Baudin Beach located on the Dudley Peninsula was named in 2002 after the French navigator Nicolas Baudin in honor of his exploration of Kangaroo Island in 1802. Prior to 2002, Baudin Beach was known as American Beach.
Next to the boat ramp is copper sculpture celebrating Mary Beckwith, the first recorded European woman to set foot on South Australia soil.
East of the town is a staircase to the mouth of Deep Creek. To the west follow the boardwalk to a sheltered beach. Facilities include a boat ramp, viewing platform, clifftop walking path and public toilets
