Hopefully, you are aware of Kangaroo Islands' success in receiving $2.375m for approved projects that will assist in driving demand, assist with reinforcing supply, and help deliver local tourism industry capacity and capability.  The projects will be delivered by the Kangaroo Island Tourism Alliance (KITA), the Islands' registered Regional Tourism Organisation.  Support through this program is not restricted to KITA members.

This is an exciting opportunity to materially support the broader tourism, food, and wine sector on the island.  The projects will be delivered over the next 12 months and comprise four main focus areas.  These are:

Trade Packaging

Will rapidly connect Kangaroo Island product and experiences with the main domestic target markets in Victoria, NSW, and Queensland utilising the massive existing database of a domestic wholesaler.  It will drive demand by creating a suite of appealing, easy-to-purchase options to encourage visitation.

Open All Year Development and Marketing

Will build much-needed marketing collateral to help operators work individually and collectively to attract domestic visitors during quiet times.  It analyses current and emerging competitive areas for interstate growth and builds content and capacity to drive demand through traditional and digital marketing.

Operator and Industry Capacity Building

Will focus on one on one operator support to assist with business capacity, product supply, driving demand, and ensuring that consumer expectations are met.

Kingscote Silo Painting

Undertaken by the Advance Kingscote Progress Association.  The project includes the painting and lighting of four silo cells and will improve the amenity of the Kingscote precinct creating appealing experiential options, attracting interstate visitors, complementing the Australian Silo Trail.

These programs are designed to help you. There will be many opportunities to get involved, add your views on what is important and actively join some of these projects. All entities in the broader tourism industry on Kangaroo Island are encouraged to become involved.  If you would like to be kept up-to date, receive invitations to be involved, or be notified of support available please register below.

Who will be eligible for support through RRTF?

It is important to note that support is available to an entity that:

  • has an ABN and directly impacts the Island's visitor economy,
  • can be a start-up business, but must be delivering a product/service to visitors,
  • can be a not-for-profit - such as a conservation group or progress association is included,
  • can be delivering wider facilities and services, not just a 'product', such as walking trails or visitor information servicing

Ineligible activities - those already being fully supported through other sources, or that are already funded on an ongoing basis by other Australian, state or territory, or local government programs.
