American River & Surrounds
The River Gallery and Arts Centre is situated on the picturesque foreshore in the tranquil town of American River. Its location provides stunning views across the estuary waters of Pelican Lagoon, creating a serene and inspiring setting for visitors and artists alike.
Upon arrival, visitors pass under two very large historic pine trees that house roosting Nankeen Night Herons. The entrance to the gallery leads through a Native Coastal Garden, designed to respond to the borrowed view and enhance the natural landscape.
The River Gallery showcases a diverse selection of artwork created by Kangaroo Island artists and makers. Each piece reflects the profound connections these creators share with the natural environment and the vibrant life found on this unique island, offering a genuine sense of place and artistic expression.
The atmosphere at the River Gallery and Arts Centre is casual and friendly. All are welcome to have a wander, enjoy the art, and experience the welcoming community spirit that defines the gallery.
