Travelling to Kangaroo Island By Ferry

SeaLink Kangaroo Island operates a regular ferry service between Cape Jervis on the mainland and Penneshaw on the Island, offering one of the most scenic ways to begin your Kangaroo Island adventure.

With two large vehicle and passenger ferries in operation, SeaLink provides multiple departures daily in both directions - and up to 12 return services per day during peak periods. Whether you're travelling with a car, caravan, or on foot, SeaLink makes it easy to get here and start exploring.

To further enhance the travel experience, two new state-of-the-art ferries are set to join the fleet in June 2026. These modern vessels will offer increased capacity, improved comfort, and greater reliability, helping more travellers experience the magic of Kangaroo Island, year-round.

Like any well-maintained service, SeaLink carries out annual maintenance on its vessels, usually towards the middle of the year. During these short periods, one ferry may be temporarily out of service, which can reduce available deck space and limit vehicle bookings. If you're planning to travel during these times, we recommend booking early and considering flexible travel dates to avoid missing out.
