SIX great new places to eat on Kangaroo Island!
While not quite Sorrento’s in Italy, Sorrento’s in Penneshaw is close, with stunning views overlooking the Backstairs Passage, providing a great place grab a pizza, pasta and beer or a glass of Kangaroo Island wine, whilst looking back on Australia.
Their pizzas are made to order with homemade dough and the freshest produce. Make sure you check out the Greek Lamb and Seafood pizza, everyone says they are a MUST!
Sorrento’s Pizzeria seats up to 40 people and is a great place for a family get together, it is fully licensed, so no BYO. They also have some fantastic family and party specials and a loyalty club, so be sure to check them out and follow them on Facebook for daily specials and deals.

Offering a little piece of Italy in Penneshaw, Eatalians offers both inhouse dining and a range of takeaway menu items. The pasta is homemade from recipes made according to old Italian traditions, utilising Kangaroo Island produce and include lasagna, cannelloni, bolognese and Napolitano. They also serve fish and chips, local oysters and other takeaway items. Eatalians is open 7 days a week from 9.00am – 9.00pm and can be found at 52 Thomas Willson Street, Penneshaw. Cactus is the new kid on the block delivering a fantastic casual dining experience in the heart of Kingscote. They are a fully licensed café / restaurant with lots of outdoor seating serving tasty simple local produce, freshly baked cakes and tarts as well as great coffee, freshly pressed juices, and local beer, wine and cider. Cactus is owned by two fantastic young chefs, trained at one the southern hemispheres greatest lodges and they certainly know how to curate fantastic food. They offer both breakfast and lunch, the atmosphere is casual, the service is impeccable, and the standard of food is amazing! Having only been opened for just over a month, they already have received over 65, 5 star reviews on their Facebook page, so don’t just believe us, have a read of what everyone else is saying about them as well.
Cactus is located at 59 Dauncey Street, Kingscote. They are currently opened Thurs – Mon from 7.30am – 10.00am for breakfast and then 12.00pm – 2.30pm for lunch.
Located just a kilometre from gorgeous Stokes Bay on the North Coast, Table 88 is offering a Mediterranean inspired tapas style menu with a great range of KIs cocktails and sangria. Table 88 is currently opened Friday to Sunday from 11am – 10pm with extended trading hours over the South Australian school holidays. Their menu is packed with the best of Kangaroo Island produce and served in a style that is great to share with friends. Full menu of their offerings can be found here. Island Pure Food Van
Island Pure’s new food van delivers delicious tasting platters featuring Island Pure cheese and local KI products. You can enjoy light meals, KI wines, tea and coffee, or even a creamy Island Pure gelato as you relax and watch lambs and ewes going about their daily routine. They are open 7 days a week from 11.00am – 4.00 pm with last meal orders by 3.30pm. The Island Pure Food Van is located at Island Pure Sheep Dairy, 127 Gum Creek Road, Cygnet River. The Honey Pot
The Honey Pot is a great new addition to Kangaroo Island's food scene, offering a pop up café at Cliffords Honey Farm. Offering great coffee, cold drinks and a selection of takeaway food offerings, their menu includes beef burgers, pulled pork tacos and delicious salt and pepper squid.
