Bottled with Pride

Vines were grown on Kangaroo Island as long ago as 1837, but it was 2001 when Australia's newest wine region was declared.

Today, there are 30 growers and around 200 hectares of vines. Visitors can choose from 18 home-grown labels, five of which are being exported to the UK, USA, Europe and Asia.

Tastings? Of course - but prepare to indulge your eyes as well as your palate, with several cellar doors and restaurants enjoying remarkable views.

And if you've got questions about the wine or winemaking, good news: there's every chance the winemaker is somewhere nearby.
