Camping is only permitted in designated areas on Kangaroo Island. Please view the guide below for more information in regards to the location, price and facilities.

Caravan Parks

Although it is not essential, we highly suggest to book Caravan Parks to avoid disappointment especially in the Peak Seasons.

Kangaroo Island Shores
Located in Penneshaw, overlooking the beautiful Hog Bay Beach.

Located in Kingscote, main township of KI & close to the local shops.

Parndana Hotel
Located in the Heartland of the Island. Very central to other regions.

Located outside of Flinders Chase National Park, a wildlife lovers dream.

Camp Grounds

Council
American River, Browns Beach, Emu Bay, Vivonne Bay and Western River Cove. Self-registering, cannot be pre-reserved and operate on a first in, first served basis.

Private
Stokes Bay (self registering).

Flinders Chase National Park
Rocky River, West Bay, Snake Lagoon and Harvey's Return. Require bookings, 08 8553 4490.

Cape Gantheaume Conservation Park & Lashmar Conservation Park
Murray Lagoon, D'Estrees Bay and Antechamber Bay. Self-registering, cannot be pre-reserved and operate on a first in, first served basis.

Free
Antechamber Bay.

Campfires & Barbecues 

Campfires are permitted at designated locations within camping areas. If using a campfire, ensure that by-laws and fire bans are observed. Keep the fire small, using wood sparingly.

Campfires In National Parks

Wood fires are not permitted in National or Conservation Parks at any time. Only gas barbecues and liquid fuel stoves are permitted. No fuels including gas and liquid fuel stoves are permitted on a total fire ban day.
