The Kangaroo Island Art Feast is an annual celebration of art, food and wine, held at 20 venues across the Island, beginning on the October long weekend. The event fuses restaurants, wineries and foodies with a smorgasbord of local artists for a series of special events, showcasing the very best the Island has to offer.Kangaroo Island is a place that inspires those who call it home. For a relatively small population, Kangaroo Island is fortunate to be home to internationally acclaimed artists, chefs, producers and winemakers.
The Kangaroo Island Art Feast, from the 2-11 October is where it all comes together. Visitors are encouraged to spend the week on Kangaroo Island not only enjoying the various Art Feast events taking place but also the spectacular scenery, abundant wildlife and some of Australia's best beaches.

1. Art Feast Opening
"Paintings, Pizza, Pavlova...& Paparazzi!" at Chapman River Cellar Door
 | An extravagant night out to launch the 2009 Art Feast! Get ‘flashed' on the red carpet as you arrive before settling in for gourmet wood oven pizza, perfectly prepared pavlova plus Happiness Wine. Shauna Black, editor of ‘The Islander' newspaper will officially open the Art Feast and launch the fabulous new ‘Food, Wine & Art Guide 2009-10'. |

2. "Proof of the Pudding!" at Chapman River Cellar Door
| Enjoy an afternoon of photography, pudding and music at Chapman River. Visiting chef Marion Chambers will cook-up delightful puddings including Yorkshire, Rare Roast Beef, Sticky Date or any other flavours that may take her fancy on the day. Les Montanjees will display his proofs and moody photography and also take the stage to sing some ‘Saucy Songs' with his band "The Coathangers". |
3. Penneshaw Farmers Markets, Kangaroo Island
 | Delicious, fresh and seasonal! The Penneshaw Farmers Markets bring locally made and grown Kangaroo Island produce together in the one place. |
4. "Panorama" at Dudley Wines Cellar Door
 | The Panorama exhibition will feature fantastic photography of Kangaroo Island and abroad by one of the islands most talented photographers, Robyn Field. The opening event includes award winning Dudley Wine, delicious cocktail food and live music by local band Black Point. Bookings are essential. The cellar door is open daily for wine tastings, breakfast or perhaps a lazy lunch. |
5. "The Sights and Sounds at Sunset" at Sunset Winery
 | Discover a wild fusion of art forms when film audio and visual art synthesize in a display of moving and static imagery. Digital presentations from Academy Award nominated sound mixer Gethin Creagh provide the backdrop to larger than life oil paintings, animated sculpture, vivid photography, distinctive collage, ceramics and vector artwork inspired by swirling melodies and hypnotising rhythms. 6. "Fiesta" at Kangaroo Island Artworks Gallery
 | Visit the Artworks Gallery and enjoy a new exhibition revolving around the theme of "FIESTA". At the opening on Saturday 3rd October 11am, purchase a specially crafted Chris Guthleben bowl and have it filled with delicious soup for free. Enjoy that with crusty bread while browsing the joys to be found in this popular and creative gallery. |
7. All Seasons Kangaroo Island Lodge
 | View a selection of Island artwork on display at the All Seasons Kangaroo Island Lodge, reflecting Kangaroo Island's creative talents. This includes suburb photography from Pete Nash. 8. "Airing of the Quilts" at Ulonga Lodge Cafe
 | Ulonga Lodge present a colourful and spectacular quilt display produced by local quilters. Peruse original quilts and other works of arts produced by talented local artists, some of which are available for purchase. Enjoy locally produced food and wine from the café menu. 9. "Feast at the Honey Farm" at Cliffords Honey Farm
 | The famous Clifford's produce will be complimented by a delightful selection from local artists and food producers. Tastings will be available throughout the Art Feast from producers including Latitude 36 gourmet products, Lovering's Olive Oil, D'Estrees Bay Apiaries ice-cream toppings and Ildoura Wild Fruit jams. New work will be on show from Honey Farm artists including solar plate etching, hand made pewter jewellery, pottery and rustic nests. |
10. "The Three Turners Art Exhibition" and "Wine & Wildlife Tour Launch" at Emu Ridge Eucalyptus Distillery
 | South Australian artist Teresa Turner has recently returned to KI. Teresa loves all mediums - portraiture and contemporary - and will be complimented by new works from Bev and Tiffany Turner. Enjoy a great night out for the opening of this fine collection of art, with a full bar license featuring Rookery Wines, live acoustic cover and original music by Tim Frears & Sam O'Brien, nocturnal tour and a bush supper. |

12. "Above and Below at the Bay of Shoals" at Bay of Shoals Wines
 | Listen to the live music of Scott Ellson as you sample the very best of the new Bay of Shoals wine releases for 2009. Treat yourself and feast your eyes on the works of four artists: Renowned Island artist Sean McGowan, an internationally published wildlife photojournalist; underwater photographer and GP Dr David Muirhead; internationally acclaimed artist Bernie Walsh, the designer of Bay of Shoals Wine labels; and well known Island artist Jan Pengilly. |
13. "Women's Space" at Fine Art Kangaroo Island
 | Traditionally groups of women gather to support, encourage and exchange stories. This special exhibition explores the artistic expression of KI women who met during 2009 to nurture their creative spirit. Vibrant and exciting work produced includes sculpture, beading, jewellery, hand woven baskets and mosaics - each piece reflecting their journey together. 14. "K.I Young at Art" at Kingscote Lions Hall
 | An exciting and vibrant exhibition of new artwork from a diverse group of Kangaroo Island artists incorporating watercolour, oil, pastel and acrylic painters. Each bring their own individual style to the exhibition. |
15. "Fibre Arts Exhibition" at The Old Stables
| Exhibition of handwoven, handspun, knitted, felted and hand dyed fibre art. Here you will find a great range of both decorative and functional items for sale. 18. "Evening Meals and Live Entertainment" at Emu Bay Lavender Farm
 | Relax in the idyllic surrounds of the Emu Bay Lavender Farm and enjoy live entertainment and dinner. Music is courtesy of a solo guitarist and singer, sure to entertain all tastes and ages and keep an eye out for local lavender tastes and more on the menu. 19. "Vivonne Bay Blue" at Rustic Blue Gallery
 | After many years of visiting Vivonne Bay, photographing it's beautiful moods and playful Superb Blue Wrens, South Australian acrylic wildlife artist Gillian Rayment will exhibit "Vivonne Bay Blue". The exhibition will feature works in acrylic of Superb Blue Wrens, White Bellied Sea Eagles and a variety of other birds and creatures. The exhibition will also see the launch of the stunning photographic book "Vivonne Bay Blue", produced in collaboration with husband Colin. |
20. "Flinders Eco Lodge Exhibition" at Kangaroo Island Wilderness Retreat
 | Visit the at the Kangaroo Island Wilderness Retreat to view works by talented artists, Suzanne Trethewey, Simone Halloran, Helen Gerschwitz and more. The work displayed in the Flinders Eco Lodge is a mix of styles and a great introduction to the variety of Island art on offer. 21. "A Feast for the Senses" at The Chase Cafe
 | Join a feast for the eyes, palate and taste buds at the Chase Café. View Rod Cowin's truly unique and cutting edge work made up entirely of digital macro photos of gum bark. Taste False Cape wine, complete with a wine connoisseur and tasting notes to help you through this smart range of wines. Enjoy the wine with a special selection of Kangaroo Island seafood including garfish, whiting and the new seafood platter for two, cooked to your liking with generous portions.
